I must thank Emmi for inviting me to go tonight. I had a blast. Sometimes I think things like these will be boring or whatever and i'll just be filled with doubt and fear (for no apparent reason, hmm... social anxiety? panic attack??) and i'll choose not to go. But i went tonight, and i had fun!
We went to see NY Philharmonic tonight for free in Central Park on The Great Lawn. Angie was there, and so were four of Emmi's Wind Ensemble friends. They played three pieces. Wagner, Lalo, Tchaikovsky. Lalo was good to the ear; the violinist (Karen Gomyo) was amazing. Ah, Tchaikovsky, what can i say? I love what i know about him; makes me think he is "one of us" and i feel as though i've grown up on Tchaikovsky music -- either his, or stuff influenced by him -- because while some of the elements are predictable to me, i love it! It's what i know and sing along to and gives me a rise. And then, fireworks. Above the trees, over the building-tops, through the fog, and underneath the clouds. Thank god it didn't rain, i didn't have to pee more than once, i wasn't starved or frozen. Good time, indeed.
